Partner with Panasonic and the Nelson Mandela Foundation to bring light to more families in South Africa – 10,000 more families.

Panasonic global launched the “100 Thousand Solar Lantern Project” in 2009 where we would donate our powerful light solution that is powered by solar power to societies across the world and uplift communities in different ways.

In South Africa, we donated 1584 solar lanterns in 2017 to communities in South Africa, Lesotho and Swaziland in partnership with the Nelson Mandela Foundation.

The project has been very successful and we want to localise this project in South Africa, where we donate more lanterns and assist with uplifting communities right across South Africa. Our target is 10 000 units in the coming years, still in partnership with the Nelson Mandela Foundation.

2018 is a big year for Panasonic, as we are turning 100 years. And at the same time, the Nelson Mandela foundation will be celebrating Nelson Mandela’s 100 year birthday this year as well (if he were alive).

So what happens when you multiply 100 years of reliability with 100 years of legend? You get 10,000 solar lanterns.

Pansonic will donate a percentage of its annual sales to producing and donating lanterns to needy communities so by purchasing any Panasonic product, you will be the light that helps us reach our target.

Panasonic recognizes that it is in human nature to want to make a better life and a better world and sometimes people who want to make a change are not in a financial position to donate or support a cause by purchasing products and that’s why Panasonic have decided to donate 50c towards the 10,000 Solar Lanterns project for every person who likes our Facebook page, giving anyone an opportunity to be the light.

Brands who would like to partner with Panasonic and the Nelson Mandela Foundation and reach their social responsibility goals, can get involved in the project through various means.

“As this project is a celebration of 100 years of Panasonic reliability multiplied 100 years of Nelson Mandela’s legend, the public figure for the 10,000 solar lanterns project in South Africa is Siya Kolisi – A reliable legend in his own right.”
